Oh my goodness, that performance of "Imagine" last night? So good. Possibly my favourite number yet. But. That doesn't mean we don't have things to talk about, show. You're being kind of annoying.

1. Wrote this week’s Weekender (and there’s lots of cool stuff going on this weekend. Your social calendar come Friday may well include skeletons, horses and porny art—Or perhaps it’s arty porn. But not all these things at the same time, people. Minds out of the gutter!)
2. Paid my Visa and phone bill (ouch)
3. Interviewed two rabbis
4. Got a gigantic headache because I was too busy to eat lunch
5. Was informed by a (very polite, but still) communications officer for the RCMP that they actually can’t tell me anything about the Canadian witness protection program, so sorry!
6. As a consequence of #5, am now scrambling to find out how one changes their identity in Canada for my tomorrow morning deadline. Sigh.
7. As a consequence of #6, got frustrated and ended up taking a quiz at Bella Sugar that required me to differentiate between street drugs and eyeshadow hues. I got 5/5… I’m really not sure what that says about me.
Okay. Back to it.

Maybe you saw this post a few months ago, where I made a fairly impassioned (and, let’s be honest, rambling) argument for why I would not be jumping on the Twitter bandwagon? Well, a couple of days ago I did a little ETA action on that same post. If you saw that then you probably knew what was coming well before I did. That’s right. I gave in. While all the things I said before are still true (and dude, I was so right; it’s a gigantic time-waster), I no longer feel like there are tons of conversations going on that I know nothing about. What’s @thismagazine saying to @richard_florida? Now I know! What’s @BarackObama saying to @SenChrisDodd? Now I know! What’s @RevRunWisdom saying to, well, everyone? Now I know! *sigh* It makes my nosy curious little journalist’s heart pretty happy.

Um... hello there?
It has been 74 weeks since I've updated. 74 weeks. I sort of can't believe it's been that long. And the funniest part? Last time I posted was to tell y'all about this new blog I was so excited about starting. And this time? Same thing.
Well, sort of. See, last time I had started a blog about trying to break into the magazine industry. Except, there was nothing exciting to say when I wasn't working at a mag, and when I was it was awkward trying to maintain confidentiality and still write something interesting. And so, Future EIC fell by the wayside pretty quickly.
Instead, come visit me at www.stacyl.wordpress.com. It's a new, exciting thing I'm trying where I write about media/pop culture/political things that interest me. Also, fewer confidentiality issues to worry about. 'Cause those were a bitch.
Also: just for the record, despite not having written here for 74 weeks (74!), I do read my friends page at least 5 times a week. I am so not a natural blogger. BUT, this whole "being a freelance writer/editor even though I really, really want an actual job at a magazine" thing makes it pretty easy to see the value in having a web presence... hence, this next attempt at blogging.
Also, also: any input anyone has about content/name/design/whatever would be 153% appreciated.

My friend Dave is in a band called "The Goodbye Celebration" (their MySpace is here) and I feel that you should all check them out. They're pop-punk/emo/rock - or at least, that's what they categorized themselves as on MySpace. I like their songs, but I have an eclectic taste in music, so that may not be any help at all. Check out "An Act for Attention," that one's my favourite.

Just wanted to wish you all a wonderful holiday season, whether it's Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, Festivus or something entirely different... But hey, if it is something entirely different that you're celebrating, can you comment and tell me what? New fic! Just a short little thing… I’m not quite sure what to make of it, or even what to say about it other than: I don’t feel like it’s done, but I can’t think what else to say. This Ginny is actually quite a bit more innocent and subdued than I wanted her to be, but the Draco is very close to the one that lives in my head, so yay for that. And so, here it is.
